glasgow b&b
Glasgow is one of Europe's most exciting destinations, and this is no more apparent than in the lively, sophisticated surroundings of the West End. Offering not only a multitude of bars, cafés and restaurants, there are many small shops selling everything from original sheet music to stunning antiques and one off pieces of clothing and accessories.

Alternatively, why not visit some of the great visitor attractions in the West End, including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which boasts a stunning collection of art, historical and archaeological exhibits. Nearby Kelvingrove Park is a lovely parkland area where you can enjoy a leisurely walk and which offers picnic areas and a skate park. Adjacent to this is the Kelvin Hall with many sports events running throughout the year and the Transport Museum, one of the city's most popular destinations.

On the other side of the West End are the Botanic Gardens, with its beautiful glass houses and fantastic range of tropical plants. The famous cobbled Ashton Lane is home to many bars, clubs and a phenomenal range of unique shops and boutiques. Simply by taking a stroll along Byres Road and Great Western Road, the two mains streets in the West End, you can enjoy some of the city's most stunning architecture, from Victorian townhouses to refurbished churches.

The University of Glasgow is also to be found in the West End. This magnificent building, over 550 years old, is an architectural dream and one of the country's largest universities, with over 20,000 students. Adjacent to the University is the Hunterian Gallery, the first public museum in Scotland, which incorporates the former home of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You can also enjoy the art gallery including the paintings of a number of renowned artists. There is also an amazing collection of rocks, minerals and coins to see and enjoy.

If you time your visit to Glasgow you can catch the West End Festival, where you can enjoy live music, jazz and much more. Many festival events are performed in Òran Mór, a beautifully restored 19th-century church which is home to so much of the entertainment and performing arts in the West End's vibrant social scene.
