Glasgow's Merchant City
is the epitome of cool, with it's cobbled streets, and eclectic choice
of venues it is the place to be seen in. Originally home to the city's
tobacco merchants, where the name originated many years ago, the wealth
of that time is still very much present with its stylish designer
eateries and unique shops and of course the amazing architecture.
Many of the buildings surrounding this area are now luxury studio
flats and living there is not without expense, although some would
say it is such a unique place to live with it's bohemian surroundings
it is an experience that is very much worth it.
Lying within the heart of the city centre, the merchant city has a
phenomenal range of classy bars and restaurants and some of the top
nightspots in Glasgow. Although only covering a small area you will
find over 70 eateries around with many different styles of cuisine.
If shopping is what you are looking for then look no further the merchant
city is famed for it's great choice, with everything from to designer
to one of pieces, urban chic to world-renowned names it truly is a
shopping mecca.
With many elegant bars to traditional places there is a great selection
and the one thing that all these places have in common is that you
are always guaranteed a warm welcome. If you are on a short trip why
not pop in for a coffee into one of the many cafes around.
After a hard day's shopping, perhaps a meal and a few drinks, if you
are still left wanting more?
