As you would expect of an internationally renowned city, Glasgow
offers an impressive range of visitor attractions, most within easy
reach of the Charing Cross Guest House. Here are just a few of them.
Set nearby on the banks of the River Clyde, the Scottish Exhibition
Centre hosts everything from the circus to rock concerts to business
conferences and wedding exhibitions. Just across the river is the
Glasgow Science Centre where you can explore the principles of science
with fun experiments and demonstrations from the centre staff. It
offers a great fun day out for all of the family.
The many theatres in Glasgow produce a variety of shows, musicals
and operas, proudly catering for all tastes. Recently, the city
has seen performances of Miss Saigon and Madam Butterfly. If you
would like to arrange tickets for any performance during your stay
at the Charing Cross Guest House please contact our staff who will
provide you with information on how to book.
There are a number of cinemas in Glasgow and the very latest is
a short 10 minute walk along Sauchiehall Street. The UGC cinema
has around 20 screens showing the very latest films and boasts its
own bar and restaurant. However, if you prefer to eat or drink elsewhere,
Glasgow has a huge range of restaurants and bars. You don't need
to venture too far to find an abundance of nightlife to suit everyone's
style, whether a quiet pub to relax in or a night of clubbing.
For something different, Glasgow offers a varied range of parks,
many housing various attractions like the People's Palace and the
Botanic Gardens. The Burrell Collection is located in Pollok Park
on the city's south side. If art is indeed your passion, Glasgow
has so much to offer. The Museum of Modern Art, located in the heart
of the City Centre and the Glasgow School of Art, designed by Charles
Rennie Mackintosh, are just two of the many jewels in Glasgow's
crown, the latter situated just along the road from the Charing
Cross Guest House.
